Yan Yang (杨燕), a PH.D student in College of Pipeline and Civil Engineering, attended the International Conference on Pipelines and Trenchless Technology 2011 (ICPTT 2011) held in Beijing, China, October 26-29, 2011, and made an oral presentation on “Effectiveness of Cathodic Protection under AC Interference and Determination of the Optimum Protection Potential” at the conference.
The International Conference on Pipelines and Trenchless Technology is held successively every two years. The International Conference on Pipelines and Trenchless Technology 2011 (ICPTT 2011) was sponsored by China-U.S. Joint Center for Trenchless R&D (CTRD), American Society of Civil Engineers-Pipeline Division, Center for Underground Infrastructure Research & Education (CUIRE)-UTA, Geo-Technical Engineering Research Center, China Ministry of Education and China University of Geosciences (Beijing).
The conferences concern with the pipeline and trenchless technology all over the world. The theme for the ICPTT-2011–“Sustainable Solutions for Water, Sewer, Gas, and Oil Pipelines” emphasizes the point. The technical topics of the ICPTT-2011 covered the complete span of the pipeline and trenchless affect on the infrastructure industry.
Prof. David Thomas Iseley, Xiaoming Zhen, Amster Howard, Lawrence M. Slavin and Zhenkui Xue made the keynote speeches on "Green Strategic Asset Management Approaches for Buried Treasures", "The Status of Water and Wastewater Pipeline in China", "The Crisis in Pipeline Installation Inspection", "Maxi-HDD Pull Loads for Entry and Exit Points at Different Elevations", " Overview of Oil and Gas Pipelines and Construction Technologies in China", respectively. Around the topics of Trenchless Technoology, Pipelines Rehabilitation, Gas/Oil Pipelines and Storage, Pipelines Installation Technologies using Trenchless and their applications in Pipeline Engineering, the participating experts and scholars elaborated on their own insights and discussed ardently.
